I used to write for a unique and wonderful magazine called "Morbid Curiosity." This book is a collection of essays from the magazine (Unfortunately, I am not in this anthology.) Having written for and devoured issue after issue of this publication, I can recommend this collection highly. The writers are top-notch, so please check it out. I think there are also a few back issues available.
Though the magazine is now defunct, it lives on in my heart, and the stuff I wrote and read for it continues to influence my writing now. (Well, the darker stuff, anyway.) I cannot say enough about how positive my time with this magazine was. I will always have good memories of my time as a writer for them.
Over the years, I have maintained contact with the editor, Loren Rhoads, and I have followed her work. She's great.
