As I shut down my old writer's blog at LiveJournal, as you may recall, I'm sharing some of the writings here. This was posted back in April of 2003, right around the time I started that blog. Enjoy!

It was a tradition in ancient Greece for the bard or performers to make an appeal to the Muse at the beginning of their show. In this way, they honored the creative source and assured themselves a good performance. I find that, as a writer and artist, it is important for me to appeal to the Muse, too. Here's a very quick prayer that I wrote back in 1999.
[Untitled]
--O trembling Muse,
Let go my flood of words,
I beg of you.
Help me to break apart the dam that chokes my inspiration!
--Like smoke,
Let my words wind through ether and air
And land,
Final,
Upon the page!--
